BTG Pactual Acquires Crypto-Friendly Brokerage Órama DTVM
BTG Pactual, a prominent investment bank in Brazil, has acquired Órama DTVM, a brokerage that is friendly towards cryptocurrencies. The deal, valued at R$ 500 million, involves the complete share capital of Órama.
Marcelo Flora, the partner responsible for BTG Digital Platforms, expressed his excitement about the acquisition and highlighted that it will provide Orama customers with access to the full BTG platform.
A Pioneering Investment Platform in Brazil
Órama, an independent distributor in Brazil, has established a strong reputation since its establishment in 2011. With assets exceeding R$ 17.9 billion and a customer base of 360,000, Órama stands out as Brazil’s pioneer platform dedicated solely to investment fund distribution.
Founded by Selmo Nissenbaum, Guilherme Horn, Roberto Rocha, and Habib Nascif, the company has experienced great success and expanded its offerings over the years. It introduced fixed income products in 2014 and ventured into variable income and social security products in 2018.
Habib Nascif, CEO of Órama, explained that the deal will allow Orama customers to continue accessing quality products and services with BTG’s reputation for solidity and credibility. Furthermore, the controllers will focus on providing “investment as a service” solutions to retailers and companies from various sectors seeking to offer investments to their customers.
Regulatory Approval Required
The finalization of the acquisition deal for Órama DTVM is subject to obtaining regulatory approval, including endorsement from the Central Bank of Brazil. This approval ensures compliance with regulations and legal frameworks.
