The auction will run for 72 hours starting on August 22nd.
Apple’s 30% App Store fee remains in place for NFTs
Apple will continue to enforce its 30% App Store fee on non-fungible tokens (NFTs) while its legal battle with Epic Games continues. The ruling allows Epic Games to direct users to external payment systems within the iOS ecosystem, bypassing Apple’s fee. However, Apple’s policies remain in place until the Supreme Court hears the case later this year. If the court refuses to hear the case, Apple’s previous verdict could have significant consequences. The App Store is a major source of revenue for Apple, generating over $1.1 trillion in commercial revenue in the past year.
Hot Take
The collaboration between Adidas Originals and BAPE showcases the growing influence of NFTs in the fashion industry. By incorporating NFT technology into the limited edition trainer, Adidas and BAPE are tapping into the crypto trend and offering a unique digital experience to their customers. However, Apple’s decision to maintain its 30% App Store fee for NFTs highlights the ongoing debate surrounding the regulation and monetization of digital assets. As the popularity of NFTs continues to rise, it will be interesting to see how companies and platforms navigate this evolving landscape.
