A Los Angeles Resident Sentenced to Eight Years for Crypto and NFT Theft

A man in his mid-20s from Los Angeles has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for committing a series of frauds, including stealing cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The United States Attorney’s Office has mandated that the man pay over $1.2 million in restitution for his crimes.

Man Forced to Pay Huge Payment for His Crimes

As part of his sentence, the judge ordered the man, identified as Amir Hossein Golshan, to pay $1,218,526 in restitution. Golshan impersonated an Apple support worker to gain unauthorized access to victims’ Apple iCloud accounts and stole digital assets worth thousands of dollars each.

By tricking victims into sharing their security codes, Golshan was able to change their email addresses and swipe valuable assets like NFTs and cryptocurrencies.

Rise In Crypto Scams In Recent Times

The case of Golshan is just one example of the rise in crypto scams in recent times. Another recent report highlighted the charges against two individuals from Arizona who defrauded hundreds of victims and amassed millions of dollars through a crypto investment scheme.

These scams often utilize various entities to promote investment opportunities with guaranteed high returns.

Hot Take: Protect Yourself from Crypto Scams

As the cryptocurrency industry continues to grow, so does the risk of scams and fraudulent activities. It’s important to stay vigilant and protect yourself from falling victim to these schemes.
