Prominent Metaverse Investor Animoca Brands Raises $11.88 Million for Mocaverse Project
Animoca Brands, a leading metaverse investor and blockchain game publisher, has announced that it has raised an additional $11.88 million for its metaverse project called Mocaverse. This funding comes after the company previously secured $20 million for the project in September, bringing the total funds raised to $31.88 million.
The Hong Kong-based firm aims to develop a digital identity and loyalty platform for blockchain games and other applications through Mocaverse. As part of the project, Animoca has launched 8,888 Ethereum NFTs profile pictures (PFPs) that act as entry passes into the Mocaverse.
The latest funding round includes investments from blockchain firms Block1, OKX Ventures, Foresight Ventures, Polygon Ventures, and NBA Top Shot maker Dapper Labs. Animoca issued new shares at $4.50 each and provided utility token warrants to investors.
Mocaverse: Empowering Web3 Culture and Entertainment
Mocaverse aims to serve as an “empowerment layer for Web3 culture and entertainment.” The project will support the onboarding and growth of other Web3 platforms by offering features such as digital identity profiles and loyalty points called Realm Points.
Ubisoft, a major game publisher, recently announced its collaboration with Mocaverse for their upcoming Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles NFT game on the Oasys blockchain. Initially, the ecosystem will include Animoca’s investment portfolio of over 400 companies, with plans to expand and incorporate other Web3 projects in the future.

According to Animoca Brands CEO Robby Yung, Mocaverse is not only a way to connect with their closest partners but also a means to facilitate connections within their ecosystem. The company believes that the project will contribute to the growth and development of the metaverse and Web3.
