Optimism Rewards Active Users With Airdrops To Bolster Network Engagement
Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, Optimism, is conducting its third round of airdrops to incentivize active participation on its network. The latest airdrop, called Airdrop 3, will distribute $26 million worth of OP tokens to 31,000 unique addresses. The goal is to boost engagement and reward users for their involvement.
Airdrop History
Prior to Airdrop 3, Optimism conducted two rounds of airdrops. Airdrop 1 distributed 200 million OP tokens to 250,000 early adopters and active users. However, only 166 million tokens reached the eligible claimant addresses initially. The remaining addresses received their tokens on September 15. Airdrop 2 allocated over 11 million OP tokens to 307,965 unique addresses.
Airdrop Details
Airdrop 3 began on September 18 and is targeted at users who delegated their OP tokens’ voting power between January 20 and July 20, 2023. Eligible recipients will receive a total of 19.4 million OP tokens.
Eligibility Criteria
Previous Optimism airdrops had six criteria for eligibility, including requirements for OP Mainnet users and L1 Ethereum participants. Each category is distinct, meaning an address can qualify for multiple airdrops and receive tokens accordingly.
Optimism’s Growing Network
Optimism is currently the second-largest Layer 2 scaling solution on Ethereum by total locked value (TVL). It has a TVL of $829.56 million and boasts over 1.522 million total users with 11,909 daily users. The network has experienced a 2.53% increase in TVL over the past 24 hours.
