Ava Labs Expands in India with New Hires

Ava Labs, the developer behind the Avalanche blockchain, has hired two employees from Polygon and OKX to help drive adoption of Avalanche in India. Devika Mittal has been appointed as the head of India, while Kamakshi Arjun will take on the role of business development lead for India. Mittal previously served as the head of listings at crypto exchange OKX, while Arjun was the head of partnerships in India for Polygon Labs.

In an interview, Mittal emphasized the potential of the Indian market and stated that Ava Labs is already in talks with various large institutions and has finalized a deal with a government agency. Mittal revealed that Ava Labs will focus on sectors such as ticketing, certification, and supply chain. The company aims to replicate its global partnerships in India, citing collaborations with Dreamus and Loco as examples.

Avalanche Subnets

Mittal also highlighted Avalanche’s subnets feature as a key driver for adoption. Avalanche recently launched AvaCloud, a no-code platform for creating custom blockchains on top of the Avalanche network. Subnets enable developers to build customizable blockchains and specialized decentralized applications quickly and cost-effectively. To incentivize subnet growth, the Avalanche Foundation introduced a $290 million token incentive program last year.

Mittal clarified that Ava Labs has a dedicated business development fund for India but did not disclose its size. While other blockchain developers are also expanding in India, Ava Labs aims to expand the market rather than compete for a share. Mittal and Arjun joined Ava Labs as its first full-time employees based in India.

Hot Take: Ava Labs Targets Indian Market Expansion

Ava Labs is making significant strides in expanding its presence in India with the hiring of key personnel from Polygon and OKX. With a focus on sectors like ticketing, certification, and supply chain, Ava Labs aims to tap into the vast potential of the Indian market. By leveraging Avalanche’s subnets feature and its recent launch of AvaCloud, Ava Labs provides developers with a cost-effective solution for building customizable blockchains and decentralized applications.

As competition heats up in India’s blockchain space, Ava Labs differentiates itself by seeking to expand the market rather than solely competing for market share. With a dedicated business development fund for India and ongoing collaborations with global partners, Ava Labs is well-positioned to drive the adoption of Avalanche in the country.
