Avalanche’s HyperSDK Blockchain Upgrade Achieves Record Transaction Rate
Avalanche’s testnet has achieved a transaction rate of 143,322 transactions per second (TPS) with its HyperSDK blockchain upgrade, effectively addressing the challenges of decentralization, security, and scalability.
HyperSDK, developed by Ava Labs, is a framework designed to enable developers to build high-performance Virtual Machines (VMs) on the Avalanche network. The architecture eliminates the need for developers to write foundational code, making custom development more streamlined and efficient.
Currently, Avalanche’s TPS stands at 4,500, while Solana achieves between 2,000 and 3,000 TPS, and Ethereum processes around 15-20 TPS, according to a comparative analysis by Coincodex. Managing data in blockchains, including the technology behind HyperSDK, revolves around key/value pairs that represent various elements such as token balances and smart contract details. Achieving consensus on this state is crucial for the smooth operation of the HyperSDK system. However, discrepancies in token amounts and the vast amount of data pose challenges.
To address these challenges, HyperSDK utilizes the Merkle Trie, which combines the Merkle Trees and Radix Tries. The Merkle Tree generates unique “fingerprints” for its data segments, enabling representation of the state. Matching fingerprints indicate consensus, while variations indicate differing states. The Radix Trie efficiently stores key/value pairs. The integration of these structures forms the Merkle Trie, which is vital to HyperSDK’s functionality.
HyperSDK and HyperChains
Mussallem emphasizes that the increased speed of HyperSDK does not compromise decentralization or security. The team optimized speed by reducing certain components of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and incorporating a distinct consensus algorithm.
HyperSDK allows the creation of subnets called HyperChains, providing developers with customization options. With scalability and security features, HyperSDK aims to be a reliable tool in the blockchain sector.
