Azuki Elemental NFTs Face Fierce Backlash from Community

Chiru Labs, the creator of the Azuki non-fungible token (NFT) collection, is facing backlash from the community for releasing Azuki Elementals, which are seen as copycats of the original Azuki NFTs. The pre-sale of Azuki Elementals was highly anticipated, but disappointment arose when the artwork was revealed to be too similar to the original collection. This has caused the floor price of Azuki NFTs to crash by 28%. Economist Alex Krüger criticized the team for reusing old artwork and questioned the legality of their actions. The community expressed frustration, with one member sarcastically noting that it was the first time they had seen the original team release their own copy. Azuki issued an apology on Twitter, acknowledging their mistake and the dilution of the main collection caused by the release of Azuki Elementals. However, some community members still believe it was a poor decision to release identical art. Despite the apology, community frustration remains high.
