Supporting Morocco Earthquake Victims: Binance Charity Airdrops $3 Million BNB
Following the devastating earthquake in Morocco on Sept. 8, Binance Charity, the non-profit arm of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has pledged to help those affected. Their efforts include airdropping $3 million worth of BNB tokens to Binance users living in the affected areas.
Providing Relief to Earthquake Victims
The earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.8, struck the High Atlas Mountains near Marrakech, resulting in a death toll of nearly 3,000 people. In response, Binance CEO expressed his condolences on X (formerly Twitter) and announced the donation of $3 million to Binance users in need.
To be eligible, Moroccan users must have completed their proof-of-address (POA) verification before Sept. 9 and reside in the province of Marrakesh-Safi, which suffered the most impact. They will receive $100 in BNB directly to their Binance accounts. Users who submit their POA information between Sept. 9 and 30 will receive $25, while active users will receive $10 via airdrop.

Despite facing legal challenges in Europe and the ongoing SEC battle in the US, Binance continues its charitable initiatives. Binance Charity, known for its web3 education focus, has previously launched programs like Lunch for Children in Uganda, donated $1 million to flood victims in Japan, and contributed $5 million to a COVID-19 relief campaign.
