Bitmain Introduces New Antminer S21 Series
Bitmain, a leading bitcoin mining rig manufacturer, has launched the latest addition to its Antminer products: the S21 series. These new models have an efficiency rating of under 20 joules per terahash (J/T) and can produce between 200 terahash per second (TH/s) and 335 TH/s.
Bitmain Showcases New Rigs at World Digital Mining Summit
During the 2023 World Digital Mining Summit in Hong Kong, Bitmain showcased its newest rigs from the Antminer S21 series. The company unveiled two machines, one utilizing hydro mining and the other being air-cooled.
Efficiency and Performance of the S21 Series
The hydro-cooled S21 miner achieves an impressive efficiency rating of 16 J/T while delivering up to 335 TH/s. On the other hand, the air-cooled S21 miner can reach up to 200 TH/s with an efficiency rating of approximately 17.5 J/T.
Competition and Comparison with Canaan and Microbt
Canaan recently introduced its new Avalon miners, but only their liquid cooling machine boasts a 19.5 J/T efficiency. In comparison, Bitmain’s air-cooled miner reaches an efficiency of 21.5 J/T. Additionally, Microbt plans to launch a machine with an efficiency below 20 J/T. While Bitmain’s hydro-cooled rig competes with Microbt’s hydro-cooled M53S++ in terms of hashrate, it outperforms Microbt’s rig with its superior efficiency rating of 16 J/T compared to Microbt’s 22 J/T.
$54 Million Investment in Core Scientific
Bitmain has also invested $54 million in Core Scientific through a new supply contract. As part of the agreement, Bitmain will deliver 27,000 bitcoin miners to Core Scientific and has entered a hosting agreement with the company. This transaction provides Core Scientific with Bitmain’s S19J XP Antiminer, which offers a hashrate of 151 TH/s and an efficiency rating of 21.7 J/T.
