This surge in interest is evident in the Google Trends data, which shows a significant increase in searches for the term “bitcoin.” On June 28, 2023, the search activity for bitcoin reached a score of 61 out of 100, but it started to rise in early June and reached a score of 81 by June 21. The most recent recorded data on June 24 showed a score of 82.
El Salvador has the highest level of interest in searching for bitcoin, followed by Nigeria, Brazil, the Netherlands, and Slovenia. The top five associated topics with web searches for bitcoin are “Blackrock,” “Blackrock Investment Management Company,” “SEC,” “U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission,” and “exchange-traded fund.” The most prevalent query is “Blackrock Bitcoin ETF.”
In addition to the increase in web searches for bitcoin, there has also been a significant increase in interest in bitcoin-related news. On June 21, searches for news related to bitcoin reached a perfect score of 100. The top five associated topics with bitcoin and news are “exchange-traded fund,” “Blackrock Investment Management Company,” “Blackrock,” “Bitcoin Mining,” and the “U.S. dollar.” Greenland, Western Sahara, Iceland, Mauritania, and Guinea are the regions with the highest interest in bitcoin news.
