Ubisoft Partners with Wemix Blockchain for Assassin’s Creed
Ubisoft, the well-known publisher of video games like Assassin’s Creed, has entered another partnership in the crypto sector. This time, they have partnered with the Wemix blockchain and become a validator node of the network.
The Wemix 3.0 network is an EVM blockchain compatible with Ethereum. It is different from the previous version that existed on the Klaytn mainnet.
Ubisoft as a Validator Node
As a validator node of the Wemix blockchain, Ubisoft will operate based on the Proof-of-Stake Authority protocol, which combines elements of proof-of-stake and proof-of-authority models. The blockchain node is responsible for confirming transactions and receives crypto rewards in return.
This is not Ubisoft’s first venture into blockchain technology. They are already node operators for two other blockchains: Hedera and Cronos.
Gaming Web3 and NFT
Ubisoft has been involved in the Web3 and NFT gaming industry for some time now. They introduced NFTs in their games in 2021 and plan to launch their own NFTs. They use the Ubisoft Quartz platform, based on Tezos, to allow players to purchase in-game tools as NFTs.
In addition, Ubisoft has partnered with Immutable to develop a seamless gaming experience in the Web3 space.
Hot Take: Ubisoft Expands Crypto Presence
Ubisoft continues to expand its presence in the crypto world with its latest partnership with the Wemix blockchain. By becoming a validator node, Ubisoft demonstrates its commitment to blockchain technology and its potential applications in the gaming industry.
