Polygon Labs Unveils 2.0 Roadmap, Attracts Canto
In June 2023, Polygon Labs announced its 2.0 roadmap to transform the Polygon ecosystem into a network of Ethereum Layer-2 chains powered by zero-knowledge technology. This vision aims to offer infinite scalability and unified liquidity through seamless interoperability.
Recently, Polygon unveiled Phase 0 of its Polygon 2.0 implementation plan, attracting interest from notable projects. One such project is Canto, a Cosmos-based Layer-1 chain that seeks to leverage the deep liquidity of the Ethereum ecosystem.
In a blog post on September 18th, Polygon Labs revealed that Canto plans to migrate to a zero knowledge-powered Ethereum Layer-2 chain built with Polygon’s Chain Development Kit (CDK), pending approval from Canto Commons contributors.
Canto aims to tap into Ethereum’s liquidity as it transitions from the Cosmos ecosystem to focus on real-world asset tokenization in the DeFi space.
Canto Joins the Polygon Ecosystem
Canto, which gained prominence in early 2023, praised Polygon’s CDK for its customizable ZK Layer-2 deployment capabilities and seamless access to Ethereum without compromising security or sovereignty.
Polygon Labs stated that there will be no changes to Canto’s validator set and staking system during the migration process.
Canto joins other projects like Astar, Gnosis Pay, and Palm Network in building ZK-powered Ethereum Layer-2 chains using Polygon’s CDK.
Sachi Kamiya, a founding member of Polygon Ventures, suggested in a tweet that more projects are in talks or already closed deals with Polygon for utilizing its ZK technology.
Game-Changing Expansion for Polygon Ecosystem
The release of Polygon’s CDK is a significant development for the expansion of the Polygon ecosystem in line with its 2.0 roadmap. Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal highlighted that developers can launch a zkEVM Layer-2 using the tool within ten minutes.
Canto, a highly discussed project from the Cosmos ecosystem, acknowledges Polygon’s ZK technology and 2.0 roadmap by transitioning to an Ethereum Layer-2 powered by Polygon. This move is expected to bring Canto’s millions of dollars and thousands of users to Polygon.
Hot Take: Canto Embraces Polygon’s Zero-Knowledge-Powered Ethereum Layer-2
Canto, a Cosmos-based Layer-1 chain, has announced its decision to migrate to a zero knowledge-powered Ethereum Layer-2 chain built with Polygon’s Chain Development Kit (CDK). This move allows Canto to tap into the deep liquidity of the Ethereum ecosystem while focusing on real-world asset tokenization in the DeFi space. Joining other notable projects like Astar and Gnosis Pay, Canto’s migration showcases the growing interest in Polygon’s ZK technology and its vision for a scalable and interoperable network. With the release of Polygon’s CDK, developers can quickly deploy customizable ZK Layer-2 solutions. This partnership between Canto and Polygon marks a significant milestone in the expansion of the Polygon ecosystem.
