Chainlink Launches Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol
Chainlink has announced the launch of its Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), which aims to bring real-world data onto the blockchain for business purposes. CCIP is currently available on the mainnets of select protocols through an invitation-based early access system. However, it will soon be available on the testnets of Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Optimism for non-partnered projects. Chainlink hopes that CCIP will become the new standard for cross-chain interoperability and compares it to the TCP/IP standard that made the internet possible. The protocol allows developers to build their own cross-chain solutions using Arbitrary Messaging and Simplified Token Transfers. Additionally, developers using CCIP can benefit from the Active Risk Management Network (ARM) for added security. The announcement has led to a 6% increase in the market value of Chainlink’s token, LINK.
