Chainlink Launches Staking v0.2 with Early Access Period

The highly popular decentralized computing protocol, Chainlink, has launched its Staking v0.2 with an early access period. In just the first 30 minutes, approximately 3.75% of the total staked LINK tokens were already locked up in the new version. This follows a previous nine-day priority migration period for existing v0.1 stakers to transition their staked LINK and rewards.

Chainlink Staking and Utility

Chainlink is known as crypto’s leading oracle network, providing blockchain applications with real-world data. The introduction of Chainlink Staking a year ago increased the utility of the token and allowed LINK holders to support the performance of oracle services while earning rewards for securing the network.

Early Access and Pool Size

The early access period for Chainlink Staking v0.2 offers eligible participants the opportunity to stake up to 15,000 LINK tokens. This phase will last for four days before entering general access, where anyone can stake up to 15,000 LINK if the pool has not yet been filled. The expanded pool size for v0.2 is set at 45 million LINK tokens, representing 8% of the current circulating supply.

Improvements in Staking v0.2

The new version of Chainlink Staking aims to provide a more flexible unbonding mechanism, allowing stakers to withdraw their tokens more efficiently. It also enhances security guarantees and adopts a modular architecture for greater adaptability and ease of future upgrades and improvements.
