Support for Harris’s Crypto Strategy
Amid significant criticism for her decision not to attend the Bitcoin Conference, Vice President Kamala Harris has found support from SkyBridge founder Anthony Scaramucci.
Scaramucci, a vocal advocate for the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, has pushed back against the narrative suggesting hostility towards crypto from Harris’s administration. He contrasted this with former President Donald Trump’s past dismissal of Bitcoin as a “scam.”
Scaramucci’s Call for Patience
Crypto enthusiasts have been critical of how the Biden-Harris administration has approached the crypto industry. Despite gaining support from the majority of Democratic delegates, Harris’s stance on crypto remains unclear.
While Harris’s team has engaged with experts on crypto-related matters, her decision to skip the upcoming Bitcoin Conference in July has sparked controversy, as highlighted by a tweet from Bitcoin Magazine’s CEO David Bailey.
Potential Changes Under a Harris Administration
Scaramucci has urged critics of Harris to allow her the opportunity to shape her own approach to the crypto industry. He emphasized that Harris’s presidency should not be seen as an extension of Senator Elizabeth Warren’s stance on crypto.
He suggested that Harris may have a different approach to crypto policy compared to Warren and advocated for a bipartisan approach to benefit the crypto ecosystem in the long run.
“Let’s keep crypto bipartisan, it will be healthier for the ecosystem in the long run.”
Scaramucci also predicted that a potential Harris administration might lead to the firing of SEC Chair Gary Gensler and the sidelining of Senator Warren.
Interestingly, Scaramucci had a brief tenure as White House communications chief during Trump’s presidency, which ended after just ten days.
