Coinbase Expands Global Advisory Council with National Security Experts
Coinbase announced on Nov. 7 that it has added four national security experts to its Global Advisory Council. The goal is to help the cryptocurrency exchange assess the impact of regulatory uncertainty in the United States.
The new members include Mark Esper, former U.S. secretary of defense, Stephanie Murphy, a former congressperson and national security expert, Frances Townsend, who was homeland security adviser to President George W. Bush, and David Urban, a former managing director of BRG Group.
These new members will join former U.S. legislators Patrick Toomey, Tim Ryan, and Sean Patrick Maloney, as well as other original council members such as Haun Ventures chief strategy officer Chris Lehane and Impact Research Polling founder John Anzalone.
Global Advisory Council’s Purpose
The Global Advisory Council was established in May as the third advisory council at Coinbase, with others focusing on asset management and regulation. The councils have a bipartisan composition and include former Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chair Jay Clayton and former CIA general counsel Courtney Elwood.
