Coinbase Introduces New Wallet Features for International Money Transfers
Coinbase, the American cryptocurrency exchange, has launched new features for its wallet that aim to simplify and expedite global money transfers. The company describes the new feature as a user-friendly process called “Send money with a link.” Within the Coinbase Wallet, users can generate a link to share on their preferred social media platforms.
However, both the sender and receiver must own a Coinbase Wallet. If someone without the wallet receives a link via email, they will be prompted to download it from the Apple or Android app stores.
Coinbase emphasizes the safety of this initiative, stating that unclaimed funds will be automatically returned to the sender within two weeks. The company believes that this feature is especially useful for paying off debts with friends, giving last-minute gifts, and tipping service providers.
A Solution to Payment Irregularities
This new feature eliminates the expenses and complexities associated with traditional methods of sending money globally. These traditional methods often involve navigating through bank account and routing details and can take up to five working days to process. In contrast, Coinbase’s wallet offers instant settlement and zero-fee transactions.
The Coinbase wallet is available in over 170 countries and supports 20 languages, ensuring worldwide accessibility for sending and receiving money. Additionally, it supports local fiat onramps from more than 130 countries, including popular payment processors like Pix in Brazil, Instant P2P Bank in Nigeria, and GCash in the Philippines.
