NEAR Foundation and Polygon Labs Partner for zkWASM Development
The NEAR Foundation and Polygon Labs have joined forces to create zkWASM, a zero-knowledge proof technology tailored for WASM-based blockchains. This collaboration was announced at NEARCON, the annual flagship event for the NEAR community in Lisbon. The partnership aims to merge NEAR’s expertise in WASM runtime with Polygon’s mastery of zero-knowledge scaling technologies to bridge NEAR Protocol with Ethereum, enabling shared liquidity pools across various blockchain landscapes.
Polygon’s Co-founder, Sandeep Nailwal, highlighted the customization the zkWASM prover will offer to developers, enhancing the flexibility and choices available when establishing or transitioning EVM or WASM chains.
Boosting Scalability and Security with zkWASM Prover
The zkWASM prover aims to simplify the validation process for NEAR validators by generating a zero-knowledge proof, thereby boosting scalability and decentralization of NEAR Protocol. NEAR Protocol co-founder Illia Polosukhin sees this collaboration as a significant contribution to the expansion of the zero-knowledge proof landscape within web3.
Hot Take: Advancing Blockchain Interoperability and Security with zkWASM
The partnership between NEAR Foundation and Polygon Labs to develop zkWASM is set to revolutionize blockchain interoperability and security by leveraging zero-knowledge proof technology. This collaboration not only enhances the capabilities of NEAR Protocol but also paves the way for broader adoption of zero-knowledge proofs in the blockchain ecosystem.
