Collaboration Between NEAR Foundation and Eigen Labs Enhances Ethereum Rollups for Web3 Transactions

NEAR Foundation and Eigen Labs Collaborate to Enhance Ethereum Rollup Transactions

The NEAR Foundation has teamed up with Eigen Labs, a startup specializing in the development of the Ethereum restaking protocol Eigen Layer. Their partnership aims to address liquidity fragmentation challenges between Layer 2 (L2) solutions by revolutionizing Ethereum roll-up transactions for improved cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

Rapid and Affordable Ethereum Transactions

In a joint statement released on November 10, the NEAR Foundation and Eigen Labs revealed plans to create a “fast finality layer” that will facilitate fast and low-cost transactions for Ethereum rollups, including cross-rollup transactions. The collaboration seeks to reduce transaction processing times to just 3-4 seconds and make transactions 4000 times cheaper than existing options, offering significant cost benefits for users.

Moreover, the partnership aims to establish secure and low-latency cross-rollup communication while maintaining the security guarantees of Ethereum and introducing additional guarantees from NEAR and EigenLayer technologies. This solution promises to enhance liquidity by reducing fragmentation between Layer-2 solutions.

NEAR and Eigen Labs Partnership for Seamless Web3 Integration

Illia Polosukhin, co-founder of NEAR Protocol, expressed pride in partnering with Eigen Labs, emphasizing that the fast finality layer showcases NEAR’s technological strengths while making the Open Web more user-friendly. Polosukhin believes this collaboration will help defragment liquidity for Ethereum rollups and make all of Web3 more interoperable as a result.

Sreeram Kannan, founder of Eigen Labs, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the mutual benefits it brings. The collaboration will leverage the innovative technologies of both NEAR and EigenLayer, enabling faster, cheaper, and easier development on the Ethereum network.
