Following WorldCoin’s Proof of Humanity (PoH) verification, Humanity Protocol is launched in collaboration with Polygon Labs, Animoca Brands, and The Human Institute. The launch was announced on the Humanity Protocol Twitter account on February 20, 2024, with a Medium post detailing the project.
The Human Institute is described as a leading organization involved in the development of the Humanity Protocol. Their website states their mission to empower humans with science, technology, and capital while building a sybil-resistant network of blockchains.
Revolutionary Palm-Recognition Technology
Humanity Protocol introduces user-centric palm recognition as a revolutionary technology for Proof of Humanity consensus validation. Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, highlights the non-invasive nature of this biometric technology and its ability to create a decentralized ecosystem that respects true digital ownership principles. Users who prove their humanity through palm recognition may also be eligible for future rewards.
This approach is similar to Worldcoin’s eyeball scan system introduced in 2023, which raised privacy concerns.
