Jamie King Joins Portal Foundation as Advisor for Crypto Gaming Efforts
Jamie King, one of the original founders of Rockstar Games, the maker of Grand Theft Auto, has joined the Cayman Islands-based Portal Foundation as an advisor to oversee the project’s crypto gaming efforts. According to Portal Chief Business Officer Dan Keene, King’s involvement is crucial in evangelizing and strategizing the go-to-market plan for Portal. King is also an advisor for other crypto gaming projects such as The Wanderers and Leap. As a Portal Foundation advisor, King will dedicate approximately four days per month to the project.
Portal’s Universal Gaming Token
Portal is developing a universal gaming token aimed at providing a seamless cross-chain crypto gaming experience. The project uses LayerZero’s interoperability protocol to reduce user blockchain interactions and eliminate bridging and liquidity problems. Additionally, Portal plans to introduce a single sign-on (SSO) crypto wallet called Portal Passport to enhance user experience and interoperability.
Notable Advisors and Project Partnerships
In addition to Jamie King, other notable advisors on the Portal Foundation include Russell Hanson, Chief Innovation Officer at Sama Therapeutics, and Matt Dixon, a former Electronic Arts employee. These advisors are also affiliated with SuperDuper, the startup behind the Creepz NFT project and the upcoming Overlord game. Over 200 blockchain games have already agreed to accept the Portal token as a game currency upon its launch, including Crypto Unicorns, Space Nation Online, Nine Chronicles, and Magic Eden.
The Crystal Dash Token-Farming Experience
The Portal team recently launched Crystal Dash, a gamified social token-farming experience where players can earn points by connecting their Twitter accounts and posting about Portal. These points will count towards the upcoming Portal token airdrop. The project aims to improve the user experience in Web3 and facilitate mass adoption of crypto gaming.
