Ethereum Layer-2 Scaling Project Starknet to Distribute Over 700 Million STRK Tokens
The Ethereum (ETH) layer-2 scaling project, Starknet, has announced that it will begin distributing more than 700 million Starknet tokens (STRK) to nearly 1.3 million addresses on February 20th. The token allocation will take place over a four-month period, allowing eligible individuals and groups to claim their tokens. Any unclaimed STRK will be distributed in future rounds.
Token Allocation for Community Members
The Starknet Foundation states that the tokens will be allocated to community members and used for various purposes such as paying transaction fees, staking, and governance. The distribution is aimed at individuals and groups who have contributed to the development of Starknet, including users, developers, and community contributors.
About Starknet
Starknet is a decentralized validity rollup or zero-knowledge (ZK) roll-up project. This type of solution executes transactions outside of Ethereum’s blockchain but records the transactional data. In the case of ZK rollups like Starknet, computations are performed off-chain and then submitted as a validity report.
Total Token Allocation
The project plans to allocate a total of 1.8 billion STRK tokens to the community. This distribution aims to further promote the growth and development of Starknet.
