14 Ukrainian Officials Trained in Financial Crime Investigation
During a training course held in Vienna, Austria from November 14 to 17, 14 Ukrainian officials participated in specialized training in the investigation of modern financial crimes. The course, organized by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSEC), aimed to provide a group of supervisory and law enforcement officials from Ukraine with advanced methods and tools essential for probing financial crimes involving virtual assets.
Ukrainian Officials Sharpen Focus on Virtual Asset
This training is the second of its kind for Ukrainian officials, signaling the OSCE’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s efforts to combat money laundering, especially through virtual assets. Ralf Ernst, Acting Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental activities, emphasized the growing prevalence of virtual assets and cryptocurrencies in Ukraine, underscoring the necessity to bolster the capabilities of law enforcement and supervisory agencies.
OSCE Training Program
The training program provided participants with expertise in advanced techniques and practical tools for investigating financial crimes involving virtual assets. It helped participants gain insights into advanced tracing methods for criminal transactions across different blockchains with the help of case studies and different approaches.
Innovative Policy Solutions for Addressing Money Laundering Risks
The training program is part of an OSCE-led supplementary project aimed at enhancing the capabilities of national authorities in Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine to manage criminal risks linked to virtual assets and cryptocurrencies. The project’s funding is provided by the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Romania, and Poland.
