Meta Introduces Generative AI Features for Advertisers

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has recently launched Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) features that include background generation, image expansion, and text variation specifically designed for advertisers. This move is aimed at disrupting the duopoly of Google and OpenAI in the generative AI market.

According to Meta’s official announcement, these new generative AI features can save advertisers at least five hours per week. The background generator helps create multiple backgrounds for product images, while the image expansion feature allows images to fit different aspect ratios. Additionally, the text variation feature aids in copywriting.

Australian Lawsuit Against Meta

While Meta is rolling out these features gradually, it is facing legal trouble in Australia. Businessman Andrew Forrest has filed a lawsuit against Meta for allegedly hosting fake crypto ads featuring him without his permission. Forrest claims that despite repeated requests, Meta did not take down these ads.

Meta’s Aggressive AI Expansion

Meta is aggressively expanding its Artificial Intelligence capabilities. In September, they launched a conversational chatbot called Meta AI. This chatbot boasts multiple personalities and can chat like 28 different celebrities and influencers. However, concerns have been raised regarding user privacy.

Some users have found that Meta AI is not useful to them, as shared by a Twitter user who described it as “useless.”

Hot Take: Meta Disrupting the Generative AI Market

With its new generative AI features for advertisers and aggressive expansion in the AI space, Meta is positioning itself as a disruptor in the market. By offering time-saving solutions and innovative technologies, Meta aims to challenge the dominance of Google and OpenAI. However, legal challenges and user concerns regarding privacy may pose obstacles to Meta’s ambitions. It remains to be seen how Meta will navigate these challenges and continue to evolve its AI offerings.
