A Collective Effort to Provide Humanitarian Aid
A group of Israeli leaders in the Web3 and crypto industry have come together to establish the Crypto Aid Israel fund. The goal of this initiative is to offer humanitarian assistance to individuals who have been displaced by the ongoing conflict.
The crypto donation drive was launched on October 9 with the aim of raising funds to support Israeli citizens in need of aid due to the war with Hamas.
The Crypto Aid Israel Relief Fund
To collect donations, the organization will utilize a multi-signature wallet that accepts various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether (USDT), and USD Coin (USDC).
Several Israeli banks have also agreed to assist with the flow of crypto assets for donations. The storage and management of these assets will be handled by Fireblocks, an institutional-grade cold storage and crypto custody firm.
The organization has implemented a strict policy that requires at least four out of seven signatories to move funds out of the wallet, ensuring security and transparency.
Ensuring Security Against Phishing Attacks
With concerns about phishing attacks and fraudulent links, Crypto Aid Israel has urged donors to verify wallet addresses on its official website. This cautionary measure aims to protect donors from potential scams.
The project is supported by various partners, including 42Studio, MarketAcross, Collider Ventures, CryptoJungle, Nilos, Blockchain B7, Efficient Frontier, Ironblocks, and the Israel Blockchain Association.
Raising Funds for Families in Need
CryptoJungle CEO Ben Samocha expressed hope that the necessary funds would be raised to provide food and shelter for families who have lost their homes due to the conflict.
As of Tuesday morning, Crypto Aid Israel had already raised $41,000, according to AICoin. BeInCrypto has reached out to Crypto Aid Israel for further information but has not received a response at the time of writing.
Charity Donations and Market Impact
Crypto has been increasingly utilized for charity donation drives, including those supporting the war in Ukraine and providing relief for natural disasters. Using crypto for donations is faster, cheaper, and more efficient compared to traditional banking methods.
On October 10, Insight Partners, a venture capital firm, pledged to donate $1 million to humanitarian aid work in Israel. Analysts predict increased market volatility as a result of the ongoing conflict, which has already led to a loss of over $25 billion in the crypto market since the weekend.
