Go Ethereum Releases Crucial Update for Dencun Mainnet Upgrade
Go Ethereum, the largest Ethereum execution layer client, has released a significant update for the Ethereum mainnet Dencun (Deneb and Cancun) upgrade. This update, called Geth v1.13.12 or Edolus, prepares for the upcoming Dencun upgrade scheduled for March 13, 2024.
The update includes a fix for a Geth miner tip enforcement bug and suggests several changes proposed in Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs). These EIPs include transient storage opcodes, beacon block root in the EVM, shard blob transactions, memory copying instruction, SELFDESTRUCT only in the same transaction, and BLOBBASEFEE opcode.
The release also features a refreshed Grafana dashboard and various fixes and features such as era format for cross-client archive data, configurable rpc request limits, fix for memory-leak with blob transactions, stricter adherence to engine API spec, and minimum miner tip.
Ethereum Readiness for Dencun
Ethereum developers have set March 13 as the target date for the Dencun upgrade. The name “Dencun” is derived from “Cancun” and “Deneb,” representing the execution layer and consensus layer parts of the upgrade, respectively.
The Dencun upgrade was recently rolled out on the Goerli testnet by Ethereum core developers. This marked an important milestone towards its integration into the mainnet and introduced the “proto-danksharding” transaction mechanism through EIP-4844.
ETH Price Breaks Above $2,500
The price of ETH has surged by 4% in the last 24 hours, reaching $2,510. The 24-hour trading range is between $2,415 and $2,517, and trading volume has increased by more than 25%.
The upward movement of ETH can be attributed to the upcoming spot Ethereum ETF and the selection of Ethereum as the first digital asset for custody services by Prometheum, the only crypto securities platform registered with the U.S. SEC. Ark 21Shares has also filed an S-1 filing to add Ethereum ETF staking details.
