Cyberpunk 2077 Gets Another Update with Metro System and More
Cyberpunk 2077 is receiving another upgrade with the release of version 2.1, announced by developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR). This update will introduce a fully functioning metro system, more options for listening to Night City radio stations, and additional content related to romantic partners.
The Arrival of the Night City Area Rapid Transit (NCART) System
The NCART system was initially mentioned in the early announcements of Cyberpunk 2077 and appeared in the Netflix series “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.” However, it was not available in the game until now. Although the modding community added a version for PC, CDPR has decided to officially implement it for all players.
According to Monika Janowska, a producer of Cyberpunk 2077, the metro system was not part of their original plan. However, they reconsidered and decided to include it in response to player demand and as part of the upcoming Ultimate Edition release.
Using the Metro System
With the new update, players will be able to travel between 19 metro stations in Night City. However, before utilizing the train network, players must receive a message from NCART that grants them a metro pass. Until then, the stations will function as standard fast travel points.
Pawel Sasko, Cyberpunk 2077’s Quest Director, emphasized that the implementation of the metro system was a response to fan feedback and requests for this feature.
Continued Updates for Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red has been working on enhancing Cyberpunk 2077 since its troubled launch in December 2020. Previous updates included a redesigned cyberware and perk tree, as well as using generative AI to recreate the voice of a character whose voice actor had passed away.
The release of update 2.1 coincides with the launch of the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which includes the original game, the new Phantom Liberty expansion set in Dogtown, previous updates, and the new additions from update 2.1.
Improved Accessibility Options
Update 2.1 also introduces an “Accessibility” tab to streamline access to all the game’s accessibility options. This includes improved subtitles visibility, advanced aim assist, and a larger HUD display.
