First Photo of Sam Bankman-Fried Released, Former Fellow Inmate Tells Biden to “Free Sam”
The first prison photo of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried has been released. Crypto influencer Tiffany Fong shared the image, which shows a disheveled Bankman-Fried, believed to be the first image of him following his arrest in August 2023.
The Last Photo of SBF?
Dated December 17th, 2023, the photo was taken at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, NY. Bankman-Fried is seen posing alongside fellow inmates, including former Blood gang member G Lock.
With electronics banned during court appearances and visits at MDC, this may be one of the last photos of Bankman-Fried for a while. He faces a potential 100-year sentence after being convicted for his role in FTX’s collapse.
A 1 Month Trial and Potential 100-year sentence
The month-long trial saw several former executives testify against Bankman-Fried. Prosecutors alleged that he orchestrated a scheme that drained clients of FTX and Alameda Research of $8 billion.
Bankman-Fried could be sentenced to over 100 years in prison. The final sentence will depend on the judge’s jurisdiction and statutory guidelines.
Former Fellow Inmate of Sam Bankman-Fried Speaks Out
Tiffany Fong also released a clip of an upcoming interview with G Lock, who was an inmate with Bankman-Fried. According to G Lock, Bankman-Fried has not showered, grown a full beard, and lost weight during his time in prison.
G Lock refers to Bankman-Fried as “a good guy” and “more gangster than Tekashi69.” Fong called for President Joe Biden to pardon Bankman-Fried.
Bankman-Fried is due back in court for a Curcio hearing on February 21, and his sentencing is scheduled for March 28.
