Pudgy Penguins Expands Retail Presence with Walmart Partnership
Pudgy Penguins, the popular digital NFT collection, is taking its brand to physical stores with an expanded toy collection available at Walmart. Starting February 20, 2024, Pudgy Toys will be stocked in an additional 1,100 Walmart stores, bringing the total number of locations to 3,100 nationwide. This marks a significant expansion following the initial launch in September 2023 when the toys were available in 2,000 Walmart stores.
Introducing Exclusive Pudgy Toys
The expanded rollout includes an exclusive collection of 30 unique Pudgy Toys, such as the Lil Pudgys Igloo Collectibles and Action Figures. These toys aim to bridge the gap between digital and physical play by including a QR code that unlocks digital traits and collectibles within Pudgy World, an online game based on the Layer 2 blockchain, zkSync Era.
NFT Holders Engage with OverpassIP
Pudgy Penguins is integrating blockchain technology into its NFT community through OverpassIP. This platform allows NFT holders to submit their digital assets for licensing and receive royalties from the sale of corresponding physical toys. Luca Netz, CEO of Pudgy Penguins, emphasizes that this expansion and exclusive toy offerings highlight the enduring appeal of Pudgy Penguins characters. OverpassIP represents a pioneering approach to digital asset licensing and community engagement.
The Pudgy Toys line, produced by PMI Kids’ World, has been a top seller on Amazon and received Toy Insider’s Top Summer Toy award in 2023. The toys range in price from $2.99 to $11.97 and now feature enhanced packaging designs and a Blind Box Collection Series for plush toys.
