Anime Streaming Platform Crunchyroll Introduces Mobile Games

Crunchyroll, an anime streaming platform, is following in Netflix’s footsteps by adding five Android mobile games to two of its paid subscriber tiers at no additional cost. This move was announced by Crunchyroll on Tuesday. The new gaming feature, known as Game Vault, includes five different game titles spanning various genres like action, RPG, puzzle, and visual novel.

Crunchyroll intends to add iOS support for Game Vault in the near future. The platform’s Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscribers now have access to these games without any extra charge.

Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions

One of the games available is Captain Velvet Meteor, a tactical action game centered around a 10-year-old boy named Damien who moves to Japan and becomes the hero of the game. Players must overcome challenges, defeat enemies, and complete quests while battling aliens. The game is anticipated to be released on Steam in 2024 but is currently available for free on Game Vault.

River City Girls

River City Girls is an action fighting game with a pixelated Japanese aesthetic that has received positive reviews since its initial release on Steam in 2019. It offers non-gory combat with comic book-style animations and is now accessible to Crunchyroll’s Mega Fans and Ultimate Fans tier subscribers on mobile.

Wolfstride

Wolfstride is a black-and-white single-player RPG tailored to adult audiences. It features quirky characters, dialogue filled with curse words, and mech-fighting. Initially released on Steam in 2021, the mobile version of Wolfstride is now part of Crunchyroll’s Game Vault.

Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery

Behind the Frame is an indie visual novel game that allows players to follow the story of an artist and explore a world inspired by Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. It offers the ability to sketch and paint within the game.

Inbento

Inbento is a food-focused puzzle game where players can complete over 120 different pattern-matching puzzles within lunch boxes. This highly-rated game also includes cats and can now be accessed by Crunchyroll subscribers on the Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan tiers.
