Exploring Oasys: The Gaming Blockchain Backed by Ubisoft and Sega

What is Oasys?

Oasys is a blockchain protocol consisting of its own layer-1 blockchain called the “Hub layer” and an Ethereum-compatible layer-2 scaling solution blockchain called the “Verse layer.” These chains together make up Oasys. It is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and uses proof-of-stake to finalize transactions.

What is the Hub layer?

The Hub layer is Oasys’ public, EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain. It uses proof-of-stake and the OAS token. The Hub layer’s technology is based on a modified version of Go Ethereum (gETH). Developers need approval from the Oasys team to launch projects on this layer. Users can participate in the proof-of-stake mechanism by staking at least 10 million OAS tokens.

What is the Verse layer?

The Verse layer is the scaling layer on Oasys that uses a faster type of Optimistic rollups to finalize transactions. It offers instant transaction approval and allows Oasys to have more control over who can engage with this layer. While the Hub layer is public, the Verse layer is not. Oasys hopes to add support for zero-knowledge rollups in the future.

Are there transaction fees?

Oasys’ Verse layer shifts transaction fees to developers by default, so users don’t have to pay them.

Which tokens does Oasys use?

Oasys uses OAS tokens for staking on the Hub layer and Verse tokens for transactions on the Verse layer. Individual games can also bring in or issue their own game-related tokens or dapp tokens.

Does Oasys have a bridge?

Oasys has a proof-of-stake bridge that allows users to move NFTs from chains like Ethereum or Astar to Oasys.

What is the Oasys Passport?

The Oasys Passport is a simplified crypto wallet designed for beginners and those new to crypto.

Games using Oasys

Ubisoft’s Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, DoubleJump Tokyo’s My Crypto Heroes and Battle of Three Kingdoms, Com2us and XPLA’s Summoners War: Chronicles, and Bandai Namco’s experimental AI-driven NFT virtual pet game are some of the games using Oasys’ blockchain tech.

Hot Take: Oasys Blockchain Making Waves in the Gaming Industry

Oasys blockchain is gaining traction in the gaming industry with its two-layer system and partnerships with prominent publishers like Ubisoft. With its compatibility with Ethereum and unique features like faster transaction approval, Oasys is set to compete with other gaming-focused chains. As more games adopt Oasys’ technology, it has the potential to revolutionize the gaming experience by leveraging blockchain technology.
