FIFA Launches New NFT Collectibles on Algorand and Polygon

FIFA has announced the launch of a new set of NFT collectibles on Algorand and Polygon ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup Saudi Arabia 2023. The global soccer organization has partnered with crypto startup Modex for the release, marking the first collaboration under Modex’s management of FIFA’s digital collectibles platform, FIFA+ Collect. The platform was initially launched in 2022 with NFTs minted exclusively on the Algorand blockchain.

Expansion to Polygon

FIFA clarified that it will continue to release NFTs on Algorand through its platform while also expanding to Polygon via drops on the OpenSea marketplace. FIFA+ Collect will release a total of 1,000 NFTs related to the FIFA Club World Cup, with the first 100 minted on Algorand and set to be released on December 15. These rare collectibles will offer fans a chance to secure tickets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final. The remaining 900 NFTs will be dropped on OpenSea via Polygon on December 19.

Partnership with Polygon

A representative from Polygon Labs initially stated that the project has moved to Polygon, but a FIFA representative clarified that they are expanding to Polygon while remaining active on Algorand.
