A former top banker, James Staley, is accusing JPMorgan Chase of concealing a set of significant emails regarding the bank’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein. Staley’s attorney is urging a federal judge to compel JPMorgan to turn over internal emails that allegedly prove the bank was aware of Epstein’s criminal activities. The attorney claims that JPMorgan’s legal team already possesses some of the emails in question. Staley’s lawyer argues that the bank’s general counsel’s knowledge and actions are directly related to the case and that Staley should have access to all information pertaining to the decisions made regarding Epstein. JPMorgan is counter-suing Staley, blaming him for any legal ramifications resulting from the bank’s involvement with Epstein and seeking the return of Staley’s pay and damages in two court cases. Staley admits to having a relationship with Epstein but denies any knowledge of his crimes.
