Crypto reporter Colin Wu shared the news that former government official Xiao Yi, who was once a supporter of Bitcoin mining, has been found guilty of committing abuse of power in China. Yi used his position and connections to enrich himself, causing significant losses to the country and its people. He took bribes to help others advance in government ranks and secure public projects. Yi has been sentenced to life in prison and is prohibited from holding government positions.
Yi Pulls A Con On China?
Yi was arrested along with Jiumu executives for their involvement in illegal activities. They allegedly stole over 500,000 BTC mining hardware and GPUs. Yi and his accomplice, Lin Qingxing, lied about the company’s activities and disguised them as “big data” related. Qingxing’s company consumed 10% of Fuzhou’s total electricity, and Yi instructed relevant departments to fabricate reports and provide financial subsidies and support to the company illegally.
