A New Rug Pull Scam: Fake Linea Token Project Dupes Users

Recently, a rug pull scam involving a fake Linea token project has resulted in users losing approximately $743,000. The scam was identified by Certik, a blockchain security analyst. It appears that the scam was orchestrated by an individual known as ‘AltLex,’ who promoted the fraudulent token on social media.

The scammer employed a honeypotting technique to deceive users and divert them from the genuine Linea token, which operates on the Ethereum scaling network. Subsequently, the scammer transferred the entire amount to Tornado Cash, a crypto mixer that has recently faced accusations of aiding criminal activities and allowing North Korean hackers to launder stolen cryptocurrencies.
