Paris Saint-Germain F.C. Collaborates with Crypto.com for NFT Matchday Posters
Paris Saint-Germain F.C., a prominent French soccer club, has partnered with cryptocurrency exchange sponsor Crypto.com to create matchday posters using artificial intelligence (AI) tools. These posters will be released as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which fans can collect. The poster series was designed by Benjamin Benichou, an artist who incorporates generative AI in his creative process. Out of a total of 1,970 incarnations, only seven were selected for the NFT series.
Displaying the Posters and Airdropping NFTs
Paris Saint-Germain F.C. will showcase these posters during seven matches in the upcoming season, starting with their game against Olympique de Marseille on September 24 in France’s Ligue 1 soccer league. All seven poster NFTs will be airdropped for free on Crypto.com’s NFT platform for eligible account holders to claim. Each NFT will correspond to the matchday aligned with its respective poster.
Rewards for Collecting All Seven NFTs
Fans who collect all seven NFTs will have the chance to win prints of Benichou’s original artwork, signed shirts from PSG players, and VIP tickets to the team’s final home match of the season.
The Future of Sport and Artistic Expression
PSG Chief Brand Officer Fabien Allègre expressed excitement about exploring new frontiers and redefining the future of sport through this collaboration with Benjamin Benichou. By leveraging AI and technology, Paris Saint-Germain aims to open up unexplored horizons for new generations of supporters.
About the Partnership and Previous Web3 Initiatives
Crypto.com became PSG’s official cryptocurrency platform partner in 2021, with a reported sponsorship deal of $30 million over three years. This partnership follows PSG’s previous forays into Web3, such as its licensing agreement with NFT fantasy sports game Sorare in 2020 and the use of Socios crypto fan tokens for payments related to Lionel Messi’s contract.
Benjamin Benichou’s Background
In addition to his involvement in this collaboration, Benjamin Benichou is the CEO of social e-commerce startup Drop. He has also designed AI-generated concept stores for Nike in partnership with Midjourney. Benichou believes that combining a brand like Paris Saint-Germain with the power of AI opens up infinite possibilities for artistic and creative expression.
