Has Ripple Covertly Rolled Out a Significant Upgrade for XRPL?

Ripple Claims Increased Transaction Speed, Raises Doubts in Community

Ripple has recently updated its website to state that its network can now handle an increased number of transactions per second (TPS), from 1,500 to 3,400 TPS. However, this development has sparked a heated debate within the crypto community, with many questioning the authenticity of this improvement.

Kevin Cage, an Investment Advisor at Iron Key Capital, was among the first to express concerns about the sudden surge in TPS. His doubts were echoed by community members like Krippenreiter who pointed out that the figures provided by Ripple are hypothetical and not yet implemented.

In a previous report, Ripple’s engineering team stated that initial tests in 2015 only showed 80 TPS. This raises further doubts about the validity of Ripple’s claim.

Ripple’s CTO, David Schwartz, has previously admitted that the XRPL had never handled up to 1,500 TPS live on the mainnet, leading to speculation that the initial figure was an overestimation of the ledger’s capacity.

While Ripple may be planning a significant upgrade with the potential to double transaction speeds, it is unlikely that such changes can be implemented without community validation. Therefore, the current numbers displayed on the website may be exaggerated or reflect the network’s potential rather than its proven capacity.

Hot Take:

The crypto community remains skeptical about Ripple’s claim of increased transaction speed, raising doubts about the accuracy and implementation of these improvements. Without community validation, it is uncertain whether Ripple’s network can handle the stated number of transactions per second. This controversy highlights the need for transparency and verification in the crypto industry.
