Pixels Ends Play-to-Airdrop 2.0 Campaign
Pixels, a popular web-based farming and social game that utilizes the Ethereum sidechain network Ronin, announced that it will be concluding its Play-to-Airdrop 2.0 campaign. This marks the beginning of the long-awaited PIXEL token launch and distribution to players.
Final Chance to Earn PIXEL Tokens
The Play-to-Airdrop 2.0 initiative, which allows players to climb the in-game leaderboard for a chance to earn PIXEL tokens, will end on Friday, January 19 at 3 p.m. ET. According to Pixels founder Luke Barwikowski, there will be no extension for the competition as the token launch is imminent.
“We’re not going to extend the Play-to-Airdrop—this is it. This is the last chance to earn the PIXEL token before we do the token generation event,” he said.
Token Allocation for Winners
A total of 8,000 players will receive a token allocation from the current campaign. This includes the top 7,000 finishers on the in-game leaderboard and an additional 1,000 randomly selected players who earned at least 3,000 in-game points during the initiative.
Weeding Out Bots and Scams
Barwikowski mentioned that suspected “bots” attempting to farm the airdrop will be identified and removed from the leaderboard results. However, there will be an opportunity for appeals for any false positives during this process.
He also advised players to stay vigilant against social media scams related to the airdrop and assured that claiming their airdropped tokens would not require signing any transactions with a wallet.
Pixels’ Future Plans
Pixels has not yet provided allocation estimates or a launch date for the PIXEL token. However, Barwikowski stated that the launch is “super close.”
In the meantime, Pixels will introduce a “Pixmas” giveaway promotion with prizes like in-game land plots and items. This promotion, however, will not award additional PIXEL tokens after the Play-to-Airdrop 2.0 campaign ends.
Barwikowski also mentioned that more play-to-earn mechanics will be added to the game over time, especially with the upcoming release of the game’s “Chapter 2” update.
Migrating to Ronin and Increased User Base
Pixels migrated from Ethereum scaling network Polygon to Ronin on October 31. This move led to a significant increase in users for Ronin, with nearly 180,000 daily active players reported earlier this week.
