Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin Applauds Argentina’s Progress
Vitalik Buterin, one of the co-founders of Ethereum, has expressed admiration for Argentina’s new direction under President Javier Milei. Despite criticism of Milei’s rapid libertarian reforms, Buterin believes that Milei’s focus on economics is his greatest asset.
In a recent interview, Buterin revealed his fondness for spending Christmas in Argentina, citing the country’s stark contrast to the United States, where he feels economic issues are often overlooked by political figures.
Regarding Milei, Buterin stated, “Milei is unique in both his vibes and politics and has become famous around the world for his personality. Although the first impression he gives is that he is neither educated nor intelligent and is like a crazy person, then you realize that he has quite profound ideas about economic and monetary policy.”
Since taking office as president, Milei has already implemented two significant measures to transform Argentina into a more libertarian nation. However, these actions are currently facing legal challenges due to potential overreach.
Milei’s latest move is an Omnibus law submitted to Congress, which aims to grant legislative powers through executive orders and facilitate the regularization of previously undeclared digital assets.
Brazilian Banks Test Microsoft Privacy Solution for Digital Real
The Association of Brazilian Banks (ABBC) has revealed that, aside from conducting over 120 operations with the Brazilian central bank digital currency (CBDC), it is also testing a Microsoft privacy tool for the digital real.
While the central bank mandates the use of three specific privacy solutions, the ABBC consortium has opted for a fourth alternative to assess its interoperability with the digital real.
Euricion Murari Soares de Pinho, ABBC’s director of innovation and services, explained, “As Microsoft is part of our consortium and is developing confidential computing work, our node was born with confidentiality. We have already built our entire node within this infrastructure.”
