Worldcoin Announces Protocol Update with New App Integrations
Worldcoin, the crypto project co-created by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has announced a protocol update that includes new app integrations with platforms such as Telegram, Reddit, Minecraft, Shopify, and Mercado Libre. The update, called “World ID 2.0,” aims to make it easier to distinguish between bots and verified humans online while preserving privacy. The platform already had integrations with Discord, Talent Protocol, and Okta’s Auth0.
With the new update, individuals can verify their humanness to an app or service without disclosing their identity. This allows brands to ensure that their offerings and services are being used as intended. Worldcoin uses orb devices to scan people’s irises for identity verification purposes. Currently, almost five million people have a World ID, and over 2.5 million have verified their humanness with an orb.
Expansion to Mexico and Singapore
In addition to its existing presence in 12 countries including the U.S., Germany, Spain, and South Korea, Worldcoin will be expanding its services to Mexico and Singapore. These locations will now have orbs available for registration. However, Worldcoin faced a setback earlier this year when it was suspended in Kenya until relevant public agencies certified the absence of any risks to the general public.
Hot Take: Worldcoin Enhances User Experience with New Integrations
Worldcoin’s latest protocol update brings exciting new integrations with popular apps and platforms. By making it easier to distinguish between bots and humans while maintaining privacy, Worldcoin aims to enhance user experience and ensure that brands’ offerings are used as intended. With the expansion of services to Mexico and Singapore, more people will have access to the orb devices for identity verification. Despite facing challenges in Kenya, Worldcoin continues to innovate and expand its global presence.
