However, the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) in France raised concerns about the legality of Worldcoin’s data collection. Kenya’s Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) echoed these concerns, and Bavaria’s State Office for Data Protection Supervision (DPS) has also initiated an investigation. The regulators are particularly worried about the processing of sensitive data on a large scale and the lack of analysis regarding the use of biometric technology for financial information transfer. The Worldcoin Foundation claimed to have a robust privacy program and stated that it is cooperating with regulators. Currently, the Worldcoin project is operational in 18 countries and continues to expand.
