New Grants Program Launch by tea to Support Open-source Developers
San Juan, Puerto Rico, February 9th, 2024, Chainwire
The digital world is set for a transformation as tea tackles the issue of inadequate compensation for open-source developers. To address this urgent problem, tea is offering $250K in grants before the launch of the protocol. The aim of this program is to support maintainers of open-source projects that have a significant impact on the open-source software ecosystem and a teaRank above 30 ahead of the tea Protocol Incentivized Testnet.
Unveiling teaRank and Project Eligibility
If you’re unsure about teaRank or whether your project qualifies, you can check your project’s teaRank here. You can also learn more about teaRank and its significance for the protocol here.
The Neglected Contributors
Despite contributing significantly to the internet and modern technology, open-source developers like Max Howell, creator of Homebrew, have traditionally received little or no compensation. This problem becomes more apparent when compared to the enormous profits earned by corporations that rely on open-source software.
An Urgent Call for Change
The lack of proper incentives has resulted in decreased motivation and potential abandonment of projects, posing a threat to the digital infrastructure we rely on.
Empowering Developers with the tea Protocol
The tea protocol aims to create an environment where open-source contributions are recognized and appropriately rewarded, securing a sustainable future for these often overlooked heroes of the digital world. At the core of the tea protocol is a vibrant community of project supporters and vulnerability reporters who are incentivized to actively participate in identifying and addressing software vulnerabilities.
tea’s $250K grant is the first step towards a future where open-source developers are celebrated and rewarded, ushering in a new era of fairness in the open-source community.
If your open-source project meets the requirements, such as impacting the OSS ecosystem and having a teaRank higher than 30, we encourage you to apply for the grant.
