Introducing Injective’s Volan Upgrade: Enhancing Real-World Asset Integration and Cosmos Chain Connectivity

Cosmos-based Layer 1 blockchain Injective releases mainnet upgrade named Volan

Cosmos-based Layer 1 blockchain Injective has launched a mainnet upgrade called Volan, which focuses on real-world assets (RWA). The upgrade aims to provide access to structured products for both institutional and individual users. This includes tokenized fiat currency pairs, treasury bills, and exclusive credit products.

The market for RWAs is still emerging but growing rapidly. Tokenized securities, in particular, have seen significant value growth, with the market estimated at over $500 million. Injective plans to tap into this market with the Volan upgrade.

Volan also expands the inter-blockchain communication (IBC) protocol on Injective, enabling improved interaction with other chains within the Cosmos ecosystem. This will facilitate complex cross-chain transactions and advanced order routing and swaps.

Connectivity enhancements

Injective’s CEO, Eric Chen, states that the Volan upgrade provides developers with native building blocks for next-gen finance applications while enhancing connectivity to other blockchains and applications.

The upgrade also introduces changes to the token’s inflation parameters, making INJ increasingly deflationary over time. Additionally, it integrates off-chain price feeds directly into the blockchain through a new oracle.

Injective raised $40 million in a funding round led by Jump Crypto and is backed by Binance, Pantera Capital, and Mark Cuban.

Hot Take: Injective’s Volan Upgrade Expands Access to Real-World Assets
