Tether, the issuer of stablecoin USDT, has announced the launch of an educational program called Tether Edu. This initiative aims to increase access to digital product development skills and offer various educational programs. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in courses, workshops, and master classes led by industry experts.
Focus on Developing Countries
Tether Edu will have a global reach but will primarily focus on developing countries in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Asia.

Educational Categories Offered
Tether’s educational program covers a range of categories including design, social media management, programming and development, AI, blockchain, and cryptocurrencies. The company is also actively hiring employees to support its education mission in these regions.
Prior Initiatives in Education Sector
This is not Tether’s first foray into the education sector. Last year, they entered into a cooperation agreement with the Business and Technology University (BTU) in Georgia to develop education in blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Additionally, Tether participated in the Series A round of funding for the Academy of Digital Industries educational project in Georgia.
Record Profits for Tether Holdings Limited
In the fourth quarter of 2023, Tether Holdings Limited reported “record” profits of $2.85 billion. As of January 31, 2024, their total assets reached $97.02 billion, with excess reserves estimated at $5.4 billion. The majority of Tether’s assets consist of US Treasuries valued at $80.3 billion.
