Is X Planning to Accept Dogecoin Payments? CTO of DOGE Wallet Confirms

Dogecoin Payments Coming to X

The expectation of Dogecoin payments on the X (formerly Twitter) platform has been growing, especially since Elon Musk took control of the social media platform. Despite no official acceptance of DOGE payments yet, MyDoge Wallet CTO Alex Lewis believes that Dogecoin payments are coming to X.

Expectations for the X Platform

In an interview with Fabrice Calmels, Alex Lewis shared his thoughts on Dogecoin payments and their arrival on the X platform. Lewis explained that the company has applied to become a custodial service like PayPal, which would allow users to hold currency balances on the platform for payments or tips.

The company has already received approval for some of these applications. They became approved as a payment hub in the US and obtained a Currency Transmitter License from Rhode Island, potentially enabling crypto payments on the platform.

Lewis believes that users will be able to connect their bank accounts directly to the website for payments and also have a Dogecoin balance for transactions and tipping on the platform.

Elon Musk’s Views on DOGE Payments

Elon Musk has expressed interest in integrating Dogecoin payments into the X app, but this has not become a reality yet. However, X has been progressing with plans to incorporate payments into the social media platform.

Musk has stated his intention to turn X into a financial platform by 2024. However, there have been no specific mentions of adding Dogecoin as a payment method. The only connection between Musk and DOGE is the mention of Dogecoin in the source code of the Tesla CyberTruck website.

Musk had also discussed creating a social media platform powered by DOGE with his brother, but this idea has not materialized.
