Solana DeFi Aggregator Jupiter to Airdrop Meme Coin Before JUP Launch
Solana-based decentralized finance (DeFi) aggregator Jupiter is preparing for an airdrop of its own JUP token on January 31. But before that, the platform will test its launchpad with an airdrop for a meme coin, which is expected to be even larger than the JUP airdrop.
Jupiter’s Launchpad and Ovols Meme Coin
Jupiter’s launchpad will debut a meme coin from Ovols, a DeFi meets NFTs protocol on Solana. Although the coin is not created by Jupiter itself, the protocol will utilize Jupiter’s technology for the meme coin launch as a precursor to the JUP token launch.
The Larger Airdrop and Distribution
The upcoming meme coin airdrop is planned to have even more recipients than the JUP airdrop. Jupiter founder Meow stated that this airdrop will be a fun and technically challenging test for the launchpad. Ovols will provide 1% of its meme coin supply to Jupiter, with 75% going to the JUP DAO and 25% to Jupiter’s team.
Future Plans and Popularity of Meme Coins
Jupiter has not yet announced the date for the Ovols meme coin airdrop but plans to start taking on further projects in February. Meme coins have gained popularity on Solana recently, although they are known for their volatility. Despite their instability, airdrops generate excitement and can bring significant value to crypto communities.
Hot Take: Meme Coins and Airdrops
Meme coins may not be the most stable crypto assets, but airdrops create short-term excitement and can inject substantial value into communities. Jupiter has two airdrops planned in the coming days, showcasing the growing trend of meme coins on Solana.
