Reasons for Investing in Cryptoassets

  • High expected rate of return on tokens.
  • Expectation of coins having high value in the future.

Preference for Overseas Markets

  • Only a small percentage invest in other Asian stock markets like Japan and China.
  • Young Koreans find overseas firms more stable and less volatile compared to domestic stocks.

Financial Behavior of Students

The survey also highlighted the financial behavior of students, showcasing their investment habits and attitudes towards various financial products.

Increased Investment in Cryptoassets

  • 54% of respondents started investing at least three years ago, up from just over 18% in a previous study.
  • Most students have invested over $3,590, with 40% investing more than $7,180.
  • Approximately 17% admitted to going into debt to buy stocks and crypto.

Investment in Diverse Financial Products

  • Aside from stocks and cryptoassets, students also invest in principal-guaranteed assets, ETFs, funds, and bonds.
  • Survey reflects lack of trust in pension services, savings accounts, and domestic stock market.
