Manta Pacific Chooses ZK Focus over OP Stack for Polygon CDK: A Strategic Decision

Manta Network to Migrate to Polygon CDK

Manta, a blockchain network focusing on zero-knowledge (ZK) applications, has announced its decision to migrate its software from OP Stack to Polygon CDK. This move means that Manta will not be integrated into the upcoming Optimism Superchain and will instead become part of the Polygon ecosystem.

About Manta Network

Manta Network is an Ethereum layer-2 solution that specializes in zero-knowledge-based applications such as digital identity and privacy solutions. Since its mainnet launch on September 12, the network has already processed over 500,000 transactions.

Migrating to Polygon CDK

Originally developed as an optimistic rollup using OP Stack software from Optimism Labs, Manta faced competition from the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK). In its announcement, Manta stated three reasons for choosing to migrate to Polygon CDK.

The first reason is the faster processing of deposits and withdrawals without the need for fraud proofs, resulting in shorter finality times. The second reason is the modularity and sovereignty offered by Polygon CDK, which provides more flexibility for feature development. Lastly, using Polygon CDK will enable the creation of a trustless ZK bridge to Ethereum, allowing different networks within the ecosystem to access each other’s liquidity.

The Expansion of the Polygon Ecosystem

The Polygon ecosystem initially consisted of the Polygon Proof of Stake network. However, with the launch of Polygon zkEVM on March 27 and plans for integration into “Polygon 2.0,” the ecosystem has expanded. On the other hand, Optimism also introduced a second network called Base network on August 9 and launched a fraud-proof system on October 3.

Hot Take: Manta Joins the Polygon Ecosystem for Enhanced Functionality

Manta Network’s decision to migrate to Polygon CDK showcases the network’s commitment to providing faster transaction processing and enhanced flexibility. By leveraging Polygon CDK, Manta will be able to create a trustless ZK bridge to Ethereum, expanding the network’s capabilities and liquidity access within the larger ecosystem. This move highlights the growing competition and innovation in the blockchain space as different networks aim to offer unique solutions for decentralized applications.
