Global payment giant Mastercard has announced a new partnership with crypto payment platform MoonPay to explore the benefits of cryptocurrency. The collaboration aims to leverage Web3 tools to enhance experiential marketing and connect with Mastercard’s consumers in innovative ways.

The partnership was announced by MoonPay at the Money20/20 event in Las Vegas. MoonPay’s enterprise president, Keith Grossman, and Mastercard’s chief marketing and communications officer, Raja Rajamannar, shared the news during the event.

Mastercard plans to utilize MoonPay’s entire Web3 portfolio, including features like auth to minting and ETHPass. They will also collaborate with Otherlife, an agency specializing in strategy, creative work, and front-end development for experiential initiatives.

Integration of Mastercard Products into Web3 Industry

In addition to enhancing consumer experiences, MoonPay will work on integrating Mastercard products and solutions into the Web3 industry. This integration aims to improve compliance and trust within the industry.

MoonPay will incorporate tools such as “Click to Pay,” Mastercard Send, and Mastercard Crypto Credentials into its payment solutions.

Mastercard representatives expressed their excitement about the partnership and its potential. Adam Polansky, Mastercard’s Web3 marketing team member, commented on Keith Grossman’s LinkedIn post expressing gratitude for the partnership. Elizabeth Taylor, Mastercard’s partnership executive, also conveyed enthusiasm for the collaboration.

Mastercard’s Ongoing Exploration of Blockchain and Crypto

This is not the first time that Mastercard has ventured into the blockchain and crypto space. In recent years, the company has added various industry products to its platform.

In 2022, Mastercard launched a program that enables banks to offer crypto trading capabilities to their customers in collaboration with Paxos. The company has also collaborated with Coinbase and MoonPay to bring its payments to Web3 and nonfungible tokens (NFTs).
